Tash York is Drop Red Gorgeous - Adelaide Fringe Review

Riotous cabaret drag queen Tash York has been in the showbiz industry for over 10 years, dazzling audiences from all walks of life. Her latest solo show, Drop Red Gorgeous, brings together everything witty and iconic which she’s known for by her fiery style of cabaret.
The stage is heavily bedazzled and draped in the brightest of reds, such as that of her on-brand glass of Shiraz in one hand, a mic in the other, and a whole lotta glamourous wigs to be seen.
A mysterious robed character emerges onto the stage, who appears to be the beholder of all of York’s sins over her career. This being is in-fact, her familiar partner in crime, Peppy Smears.
The self-proclaimed pianist is a perfect match for the unmatched sassiness of York, of which they compliment each other very well on-stage.
Audience members have the finest of decisions in deciding how a certain part of the show will play out, as well as an exclusive insight into the video which almost got her cancelled.
The performance comprises ingenious original songs and lyrical mash-ups put together with backing tracks from wide variety of real, fake, and scandalous redhead pop icons from the 90s to the modern era, including Sinead O’Connor, Adele, eurythmics, Rhianna, Chappell Roan, Ed Sheeran, and many many more.
York continues to blow away audiences with her breathtaking and extravagant vocals which bring the house down, along with more tales from her everyday life. As her performance progresses, the vocals get bolder and bolder.
What stands out the most is her bold and unapologetic opinions about what she truly stands for in the world. Every one of York’s shows is a bigot-free zone, and Drop Red Gorgeous is no exception. Arguably, this is York’s most spirited and fiery solo show to date.
Drop Red Gorgeous is undoubtedly the ultimate culmination of York’s drag and vocal abilities, unmatched sassy attitude, and admirable lyrical genius. It is an absolute joy to have been in York’s presence over the years.
This may be her last solo show for a while, so if you get a chance to see it, I beg you to make all your effort to.
