The Mirror - Adelaide Fringe Review

Gravity & Other Myths invites us to peer into The Mirror and question what it means to be entertained as human beings.
Through the composition of circus, acrobatics, dance, and vocals, it delivers a pulsating and spine-tingling performance filled with dare-defying aerial and ground theatrics and mesmerising digital light play of various proportions.
The contemplative and anticipatory nature of the performance is shown to the audience in the opening sequences. Vocalist extraordinaire Megan Drury wheels out a retro boombox and gives us a cheeky montage of what is to unfold.
Each segment of the performance feels immensely alluring, with each of the cast’s dance and acrobatic abilities demonstrating an elite level of strength, fluidity, and poise. It's one of the most astonishing acrobatic displays you’ll likely ever see in your lifetime.
It achieves to be light-hearted, sexy, and serious at the same time, contrasting between each of these elements throughout the entire performance.
The ever-changing live screen perspective angles broadcasted through phones on selfie sticks draw our attention to the larger screens on stage, making you question where your attention should be drawn to.
There is a clear sense that the narrative being told is open for interpretation, as in to say that we all experience entertainment differently in this modern world, and see different perspectives when we reflect on how we decide what to pay attention to. This is further conveyed through The lyrical mash-up medleys performed by Drury, which scramble our perceptions and senses.
Each of the performers have their own unique personalities and versatile roles throughout the show, creating a rich charm overall.
To sum up The Mirror is simply to say that it is a stimulus feast for all of your senses, both physical and psychological. The world-class jaw-dropping acrobatics and dance, combined with comical sophistication is brilliantly spectacular.
